Irish sport horses top world eventing rankings

For the 14th consecutive year, the Irish Sport Horse Studbook has topped the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) Eventing Studbook Rankings.
The Irish Sport Horse Studbook was presented with the prestigious award at the WBFSH General Assembly in Lyon, France, on Tuesday.
"I am delighted to see that the Irish Sport Horse Studbook has once again come out on top of the WBFSH Eventing Rankings," said Joe Walsh, the Chairman of Horse Sport Ireland.
He went on to say that it is essential that plans are put in place to ensure that the country continues to breed top class event horses in the future, "The Horse Sport Ireland Strategic Plan will be very important in this regard".
The Irish Sport Horse Studbook finished more than 600 points above their nearest rivals, the Selle Francais Studbook. The six Irish Sport Horses included in the final calculation all finished in the top thirty in the individual rankings.
As well as topping the Eventing rankings, the WBFSH Eventing Breeder's Award 2008 was won by Ann-Marie and James Jamieson, breeders of Ben Along Time.
After hearing about her win, a delighted Ann-Marie Jamieson paid tribute to the both the owners and rider of Ben Along Time (ISH), "I would like to congratulate everyone involved with the horse, especially the owners and rider. Clayton Frederick and Ben Along Time are an amazing partnership and I wish them every success for the future."
